All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja made a memorable return to international cricket with a brilliant performance in the Nagpur Test once morest Australia. The player made a spectacular comeback following injury by taking 7 wickets and 70 runs in two innings. The star was embroiled in controversy on the first day over a video clip from the match.
In the clip, the left-arm spinner can be seen applying a substance on his finger. The footage of the bowler taking it from fast bowler Mohammad Siraj’s hand has emerged. Jadeja can be seen applying the substance on his index finger. After the video went viral, there was a lot of reaction on social media, especially from the Australian cricket fraternity. The Australian media even questioned whether Jadeja had tampered with the ball.
The Indian board concluded that Jadeja had applied pain cream. However, Jadeja has now been fined 25% of his match fee for violating ICC rules.
If he had done it with the umpire’s permission, Jadeja would not have been punished, but anyway the player did it without such permission and got the job.
