(CNN) –– Jada Pinkett Smith continues to share details of her previous relationships.
After revealing that she and husband Will Smith have had “completely separate lives” since 2016, Pinkett Smith spoke to RollingOut regarding his friendship with the late rapper Tupac Shakur.
Pinkett Smith was asked if Shakur, shot to death in 1996, was her “soul mate.” She said yes and talked regarding his strong connection.
“If there’s such a thing as past lives, I definitely think Pac and I have shared a few together,” she said of Shakur, whom she befriended when she was a teenager and they both lived in Baltimore, Maryland.
Regarding any type of romantic connection, he said that “it was not possible” because “there was no chemistry between us.”
When the interviewer insisted that their chemistry was evident to others, Pinkett Smith disputed the claim.
“It’s just that friendship loves chemistry,” he said.
“It was almost like God made us that way,” Pinkett Smith continued. “It was like, look, I’m going to put you all together, right? You will be a dynamic duo. But I will tell you right now that I will make it so that you cannot be together because that was not the purpose.”
Pinkett Smith has been doing press for her upcoming autobiographical book, “Worth,” which will be published on October 17. In the play she writes regarding her relationship with Shakur.
In a new clip from “Jada’s Story – An NBC News Special,” Pinkett Smith recalls what happened at the 2022 Oscars. She said she was shocked when her husband slapped and yelled at Chris Rock: “Keep my wife’s name out.” out of your damn mouth!”
Rock had made a joke regarding Pinkett Smith, who suffers from alopecia and hair loss.
“First of all, I’m really surprised, because look, I’m not there,” Pinkett Smith told Hoda Kotb during the special. “It’s been a long time since we called each other husband and wife.”
