Australian actor Jacon Elordi He rose to fame in 2018 with the mega hit Netflix, The Kissing Bootha teen film whose popularity led to it becoming a trilogy.
These films, which also catapulted actress Joey King into Hollywood, are romantic comedies that won a lot of love among the public, but were destroyed by the expert criticism.
Now, Elordi has confessed that he was not a big fan of the films either and that he did not even want to make them.
In an interview with the American magazine GQrecognized that “I didn’t want to make those movies before I made them. Those movies are ridiculous. They are not universal. They are an escape”.
Although it was not something he wanted to act in, he accepted the job due to the logic that Hollywood often follows, known as ‘one for them, one for me’, which is when actors participate in a minor project with the hope that they will be considered for a more prestigious film in the future.
“That’s a trap too. Because it can become 15 for them, none for you. You have no original ideas and you are dead inside. So it is a complex dance (…) My ‘one for them’, I already did it (in reference to The kissing Booth‘” he explained.
However, he stressed that now his career has reached a point where he feels comfortable: “That’s probably why I’m so happy.”
Jacob Elordi refused to audition for Superman
In the same interview, Jacob Elordi said that he was offered to audition for the new film Supermanwhere Clark Kent will be a younger character than in the films starring Henry Cavill.
However, he turned down the opportunity because it was a very dark character for him, considering he has already played several complicated characters.
“I was asked to audition for Superman. I immediately said ‘no thanks’. That is too much. That’s too dark for me.”he related.
Likewise, he stated that he is not interested in participating in any superhero movie: “Not particularly, no. I’ve always been told that I have to give a general answer or my agent will be mad at me. ‘Anything can happen!’. And obviously, anything can happen, but at this point in my life, I don’t see myself having any interest in that.”
“I like to do what I like to watch and I get very restless watching those (superhero) movies,” he added.
