The Jacksonville Jaguars have bagged a special transfer. The AFC South team have signed Josh Pederson. He is the son of head coach Doug Pederson.

The Jacksonville Jaguars’ new tight end doesn’t need a long round of introductions to head coach Doug Pederson. With Josh Pederson, the team has brought their head coach’s son on board. The Jaguars made the deal public on Monday (local time).

From the USFL to the NFL

Pederson last played for the Houston Gamblers in the newly formed USFL (United States Football League). There he caught 25 passes for 325 yards in ten games.

This is the third best value in his position. Then, just days ago, the Gamblers announced that they would release Pederson so he might join an NFL franchise. A move to Jacksonville quickly became apparent, which Pederson fueled by liking a tweet.

Now the family coup is complete and the joy in the Pederson household is great. Josh Pederson told KNO8 that his mother “freaked out” when he told her regarding the new contract with the NFL team.

Josh Pederson has trained with several NFL teams

The tight end played at the University of Louisiana Monroe and went empty handed in the 2021 draft. Pederson has not played an NFL minute in his career, although he has coached with the San Francisco 49ers, New Orleans Saints, and Kansas City Chiefs in 2021.

That should change as early as September. The Jaguars will start the season on September 10th (7:00 p.m. CEST) away at the Indianapolis Colts.

Father Doug took over the Jaguars at the start of last season and led to a 9-8 record and the division title. In the playoffs, “The Jags” failed in the divisional round once morest eventual Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs (20:27.)
