Jackson Martínez with the illusion of returning to professionalism: Leonel Álvarez does not close doors | Colombian Soccer | Betplay League

It’s been two years since Jackson Arley Martínez retired from professional soccer, and he changed goals for Christian music. The Chocoano forward with a long time in the Colombian National Team, and a benchmark for Deportivo Independiente Medellín, with time at Jaguares de Chiapas, Porto, Atlético de Madrid, Guangzhou de China and Portimonense, saw his career cut short at 33 years of age by an eternal struggle and constant with injuries.

Jackson Martínez’s history with goals has been very sweet. His best record was at FC Porto with 143 games played and 92 goals scored, which allowed him to jump to Atlético de Madrid. On his arrival in Spain, it was seen with good eyes to be able to remember Radamel Falcao García, but it was in Iberian territory where the injuries began to do their part on the Chocó striker.

Later, during his time in China and once more in Portugal, he failed to recover that countenance and goalscoring instinct that he had shown, for example, at FC Porto and Jaguares de Chiapas in Mexico. Little by little, he began to suffer more serious injuries that put his sports career at risk.

This is how it was on December 7, 2020 at the age of 33 when he decided to end his professional activity. However, two years later, the Chocó striker was seen training with Águilas Doradas with an old acquaintance like Leonel Álvarez. Without a doubt, he excited many to see Jackson Martínez in the training sessions of the gold team, and Leonel is also excited regarding Jackson.

In an interview with Caracol Radio, Leonel Álvarez spoke regarding the forward from Chocó, ‘Jackson asked us and I have always told this kind of player to come to me without any problem, he has earned that with his way of being. At Águilas he was given the opportunity to train, we are giving him work and he has the ability to continue playing.’

At the same time, he adds that he has been seen physically well, with the desire to play once more, ‘from what I have spoken with him, he is looking for the option to play, he wants to continue playing and he is excited as he has training sessions and he has been with us, we have enjoyed it and he is a very important player’. They will then be key days for Leonel Álvarez, Águilas Doradas and Jackson Martínez, who will be able to return to professionalism.
