Jabra today launched two new TWS Bluetooth headsets, the Elite 10 and the Elite 8 Active. The Elite 10 is ideal for meetings and music, while the Elite 8 Active is designed for exercise and work. According to Adamya Sharma of SoundGuys, the Jabra Elite 10 succeeds the Elite 7 Pro and Elite 85t, while the Elite 8 Active replaces the Elite 7 Active.

Jabra Elite 8 Active

As the Elite 8 active is geared towards sports, it has IPX8 certification, which attests to its resistance to dust and water, and can be submerged up to 1.5m deep. Its case also has some resistance to splashes and dust, thanks to the IPX4 certification. It is interesting to note that, according to Jabra, the headset was tested in salt water and there were no malfunctions.

Another positive point for practitioners of physical activities is the rubberized body of the Elite 8 Active, which provides a secure fit in the ears. This is likely to help sensitivity to touch commands as well.

According to Jabra, the Elite 8 Active has a noise canceling system that automatically adapts to the environment where the user is through the use of a set of 6 microphones. The company guarantees that the noise caused by the wind when cycling or running outdoors will be efficiently attenuated, providing a clearer sound.

The Elite 8 Active’s battery impresses, and can reach up to 14 hours of continuous playback with noise cancellation (ANC) disabled. If the user turns on the ANC, this time drops to 8 hours. Still, it’s an impressive capability compared to the vast majority of TWS in-ear headphones.

If you use it for hours at a time and like to activate ANC for silence, the Jabra Elite may have limited battery capacity. According to the company, when activating active noise cancellation, the phone is only capable of delivering 6 hours of continuous music playback. By turning off the active noise attenuation system, the time rises to 8 hours.

The body of the Elite 10 does not have the IPX8 certification like the Elite 8 Active, as it was not made for exercise, being resistant to water splashes and some dust. However, on the other hand, as it was designed to bring the best possible comfort, its body has a semi-open design (structure is not fully sealed), which provides better comfort when listening to music and activating active noise cancellation.

The Elite 10’s active noise cancellation is more advanced than that of the Elite 8 Active, as the headset was developed for use in places such as airplanes, buses, offices, cafeterias, among other environments with noise from voices and engines.

Release and availability

The Jabra Elite 8 Active is now available for purchase on the official Jabra US website for $199 in Caramel, Navy (dark blue), Black (black) and Dark Gray (dark gray). The Jabra Elite 10 will launch in September 2023 for $249 in Cream, Cocoa, Titanium black, Gloss Black, Matte Black. It is not yet known when they will be sold in Brazil and what the values will be.
