During the last agricultural fair in Samatan, the Young Farmers (JA) of Savès took the initiative to fight once morest cancer by symbolically giving back €1 on each meal sold during the 3 days of the event. Their generosity paid off, as they handed over a check for €2,000 to the Gers Cancer League. Orane Desangles, co-vice-president of the JA of the Lombez-Samatan sector, and her colleague Pierre Abadie officially presented the check to the League. “This partnership is of particular importance, because the agricultural world is not spared by this disease. It is crucial to think regarding your own health while exercising your profession”, underlined Orane Desangles. This collaboration with the League will continue during Gascogne Agri which will take place on Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 August in Bézéril.
This initiative has shed light on cancers specifically affecting the agricultural environment. During the three days of the agricultural show, the JAs were able to be present on site and distribute screening kits. “This donation of €2,000 is remarkable”, underlines Nadia Benoît, departmental president of the League. “On behalf of the League, I express my sincere thanks for the action of the JA and their contribution to the fight once morest cancer.” This fruitful collaboration between the world of agriculture and the League once morest cancer thus makes it possible to raise awareness and support the fight once morest these diseases in the Gers.
