Ja Morant’s ankle has turned badly: update to come on Saturday

In a night where Tyrese Maxey was also injured, Ja Morant had to leave his friends in the last minutes of the game between his Grizzlies and the Thunder. As with the Sixers fullback, Ja’s ankle spun badly. And like in Philadelphia, fingers crossed for good news.

Grizzlies fans clearly won’t sleep easy despite Memphis’ victory over OKC. According to Grizzlies coach Taylor Jenkins, Ja Morant will indeed undergo tests this Saturday to determine the severity of his ankle injury.

Released three minutes from the end and helped by members of the staff to reach the locker room, the Grizz franchise player unfortunately finds an infirmary that he is starting to know well. We recall that Morant missed 25 games last season for various sores, and this sequence also reminds us of the left ankle injury he suffered in December 2020 on a similar sequence.

If we are obviously going to closely monitor the next update coming straight from Memphis, we can already say that this glitch is bad for the Grizzlies. Already because it’s Ja Morant obviously, but also because the Taylor Jenkins team is already deprived of Desmond Bane for several weeks, while Jaren Jackson Jr. has just returned. To put it another way, the Grizzlies are struggling to really have their team complete at the start of the season and this new episode will not help matters.

As back-up point guard Tyus Jones prepares, he will most likely be in charge for the games to come.
