J. Glemža, R. Jaloveckas were awarded for their lifetime contributions to the cultural heritage of Lithuania  Culture

As KPD reported, two heritage conservationists were awarded medals for lifetime achievements.

J. Glemža was awarded for his initiatives and participation in the management of heritage protection institutions, his contribution to the promotion of Lithuania’s name in international organizations, the education of young heritage conservationists, and projects for the management of cultural heritage objects.

Together with his colleagues, he carried out the reconstruction of the defensive tower of Medininkų Castle, prepared the 1999 General Plan of Vilnius for the territory of Lithuania, wrote books regarding Lithuanian architectural monuments, protection and management of cultural heritage.

R. Jaloveckas was awarded for combining the competences of an architect, restorer, art researcher, sensitivity in the preparation of heritage management and adaptation projects of cultural heritage objects, and formation of a generation of restorers in Lithuania.

He performed the capital St. St. John’s Church architectural research and prepared a restoration project, researched and with colleagues prepared projects for the Old Town of Vilnius, a Gothic building on Stiklių Street, a layout project for the Lithuanian Folk Household (now Ethnography) Museum in Rumšiškės.

Certificates of appreciation from KPD were also presented to the architect, architecturologist Rasa Bertašiūta, architect Augiis Guč, architect-restorers Evaldas Purlius, Giedrei Filipavičiene, Gražina Kirdeikiene.

The awards to the heritage conservationists were presented in commemoration of their professional holiday at the completed restoration and opened to the public last week in the Sapiegi Palace in Vilnius.
