COLOMBIAN singer and rapper, J Balvin became the main performer on the first day of We The Fest (WTF) 2024 which took place in the GBK area, Senayan, Jakarta, Friday, (7/19/2024). Balvin, with his energetic DJ set and backing dancers rocked the main stage.

The performance was also Balvin’s first in Indonesia. “I’ve been to Jakarta before. But for a performance, this is the first time. It’s great to be able to be present amidst your enthusiasm. Thank you also to friends from Latin countries who attended We The Fest 2024. I saw a Colombian flag too, thank you!” Balvin exclaimed in the middle of his performance, Friday, (7/19/2024).

Balvin, wearing a green jacket and sunglasses, displayed a charming stage set. The stage level presented in the middle was also explored as a dance set by his choreographers.

Balvin has performed hits such as La Cancion, X, Mi Gente, and I Like It. The singer whose full name is José Álvaro Osorio Balvín is one of the best-selling Latin music artists with sales of more than 35 million records (albums and singles) worldwide.

Balvin was born in Medellín, Colombia. At the age of 17, he moved to the United States to study English, where he lived in Oklahoma and New York. He later returned to Medellín and gained popularity by performing in clubs in the city.

Throughout his career, Balvin has won five Billboard Latin Music Awards, four Latin Grammy Awards, two MTV Video Music Awards and four Latin American Music Awards and received two Grammy Award nominations.

In 2017, the BMI Latin Awards named him the best contemporary Latin songwriter for his contributions to the Latin music industry, and he won the first Global Icon Award given by Lo Nuestro Awards, in recognition of his contributions to spreading Latin music around the world.

J Balvin became the first Latino to headline major music events such as Coachella, Tomorrowland, and Lollapalooza. (M-1)
