IWC Schaffhausen offers a personalization service for Portugieser Chronograph watches. Customers can now try different combinations of case materials, new dial colors and straps to create their own version of the iconic chronograph – right on their wrist. The personalized watch is delivered in approximately three weeks. This service is offered for a limited time in IWC boutiques in Zurich and Geneva
A mechanical watch is much more than a simple timepiece: it reflects the lifestyle, values and tastes of the person who wears it. It is with this in mind that in recent years, IWC has constantly developed the possibilities of personalization – notably with a wide range of bracelets. With the personalization service for the Portugieser Chronograph, one of its flagship models, the Swiss luxury watchmaker has once once more established itself as a pioneer and is revolutionizing the personalization of luxury watches.
“Our new personalization service allows us to actively involve our customers in the design process of their watch. They can create their favorite version of the Portugieser Chronograph themselves, thanks to a wide choice of case materials, dial colors and bracelets. Unlike an online configurator, it is possible to try different combinations of materials and colors directly on the wrist. This makes the personalization process an exciting experience,” explains Christian Knoop, Chief Design Officer at IWC Schaffhausen.
Customers can design their own watch
The customization is designed in the form of a kit centered around two cases in stainless steel and 18-carat 5N gold. Once you have decided on the case material, you still have to choose from the 16 dial colors exclusively developed for this service. The color palette consists of lively and bright colors such as turquoise, indigo, eggplant or ginger. Each dial is available with rhodium-plated or gold-plated appliques and hands. The dial discs are magnetically attached to the case so customers can try different combinations of materials and colors. Finally, the watch can be equipped with a strap from a wide selection: calfskin or alligator leather straps, alternatives to leather such as TimberTex®, or even rubber or stainless steel. Once one has decided on a combination, the personalized watch is transferred to the personalization department and is delivered within approximately three weeks. A small “i” in a circle on the small seconds counter at 6 o’clock indicates that the chronograph watch is the result of a personalized version.
The limited personalization service for the Portugieser Chronograph is available from November 9 to 21 in Zurich and from November 22 to December 2 in Geneva.
