IVSS announces August pension payment on Monday, July 22

On Monday, July 22, the pension payment corresponding to August of this year will be made, reported the Venezuelan Social Security Institute (IVSS) in the plataforma X.

“The Venezuelan Social Security Institute informs the pensioners of the country that on July 22, 2024, the amount corresponding to the month of August will be deposited,” reads the message released on Friday.

It should be noted that the amount to be deposited will be 130 bolivars, based on the current minimum wage. This is equivalent to 3.55 dollars at the official exchange rate of the Central Bank of Venezuela.

The amount paid to pensioners makes it impossible to cover the cost of living in Venezuela. Rafael Narvaez, a lawyer and human rights defender, pointed out in a recent column that the pension is insufficient to cover a basic food basket, which costs more than 500 dollars.

Finally, the IVSS recommended that its beneficiaries use electronic banking. In addition, it reported that more than 20,000 new pensioners were included in the system, “thanks” to the policies of Nicolás Maduro and Magaly Gutiérrez, president of the IVSS.
