Côte d’Ivoire, which was in a bad position in Group B following two days, beat Uganda 3-1 and will face Algeria in the quarter-finals.
The Ivorians rushed to attack from the start of the game and scored two goals in the first half hour of play before seeing Uganda reduce the mark from the penalty spot.
They needed a simple win to qualify second in the group and that’s what they will do by adding a third goal in the second half.
In the other match of the group, Senegal won 3-0 and finished first in the group. Thus, Côte d’Ivoire will be the next opponent of the greens in the quarter-finals, still at the Nelson Mandela stadium in Baraki, next Friday at 5 p.m.
