The Galaxy A34 is the most requested cell phone by you here at Oficina da Net, and following analyzing it, I understand why: cameras, battery, screen, performance and durability, all this for less than R$ 1500? But isn’t it too good to be true? Come with me and let’s discover all the positives and negatives of the Galaxy A34, a true success from Samsung in 2023.
Samsung Galaxy A34 Review
cameras
The A34’s camera set is quite modest, but in my opinion, it’s not lacking for a cell phone in this price range. There are three cameras: the sensor principal tem 48 MPone 8 MP ultrawide it is a 5 MP macro sensor.
Me and front camera is 13 MP and the cell phone can film in 4K 30 frames or FULL HD 60both at the rear and at the front.

Samsung cell phones from 2023 are quite surprising in terms of photo quality. They corrected that excess of artificial sharpness of years past, and it seems that the photos are much more consistent between devices. This means that both the entry-level and the more expensive ones are taking some pretty good pictures.

With Samsung it’s like that, you pick up your cell phone, take a picture and that’s it, it’s ready to be posted on social networks, you don’t need to mess around with filters, changing contrasts, things like that.

Of course, the more expensive the branded device, the better the quality of the camera software, right? And here on the A34 I took some photos that weren’t very good, like this one of the sleeping kitten. It seems that, in the first photo, the phone detected the cat as part of the scenery, softening the entire image. The second photo was normal, even without changing anything in the camera settings.

This looks like an HDR error to me. Look at this night photo: The exposure is too high, adding too much artificial light to the photos. This doesn’t happen on other phones we’ve tested: on the A54, the photo in the same scenario was quite different.
But in an ideal scenario, in daylight, with the main camera, I managed to take some really nice pictures with it.

This one, walking around with Buddy, unlike the night shots, the HDR worked really well: it brightened up the shadowed parts of the photo and added detail, all without blowing out the sky.

The ultra-wide camera performs just as well as the regular camera, which is rare to see. Generally, when testing these two sensors, the ultra-wide colors are washed out, but this is not the case with the A34.

In the selfies, I was a little disappointed. Even with the beautification turned off, the camera software continues to erase details from the face, leaving the skin too smooth. Other than that, the photos are good. Portrait mode neatly crops the face, even in the absence of a depth sensor.
Battery
To measure how long the cell phone battery can last, we put the devices we are analyzing in our battery test. Here, the cell phone goes through several steps that consume a lot of charge, such as video recording, browsing on social networks, games, stress testin short, all with the objective of simulating an entire day of intense use.
The Galaxy A34, with its 5000mAh battery, spent 87% of that charge during our tests. That is, you can use it for a whole day, browsing social networks, recording stories, and there will still be approximately 13% of battery left at the end.

It’s a good result, but it’s not different from the standard – it ranked 23rd in our Ranking of best batteries, along with devices like the Redmi Note 12 4G, POCO X4 GT and Galaxy M53.
As always with Samsung phones, the problem is charging. You’ve heard me complain regarding this a million times, and I’m going to keep picking on Samsung until they put a decent charger in the box.

Almost every cell phone that we test here from other brands takes regarding 1 hour to charge the battery from 0 to 100%. Why do Samsung cell phones take twice as long, sometimes even over 2 hours? The times of slow loading are over, if you are a user of Redmi, POCO, Realme, you know very well what I am talking regarding.

Hardware and Performance:
In terms of hardware, we don’t have those Exynos processors from Samsung, but an o Dimensity 1080 and Mediatekwith two strong 2.6Ghz cores and six 2Ghz cores.
We are testing the best selling version of the A34, with 128GB of storage e 6GB of memorybut there are also versions with 256GB of storage and 8GB of RAM.
During the weeks that I used this cell phone, I did not notice any crashes. The user experience is really smooth. But how does this phone stack up in the scores?
In the AnTuTu benchmark, one of the most famous tests, the A34 scored an impressive 583,000 points. This score puts it close to the Motorola Edge 30 and well above the Galaxy A54, which only scored 503 thousand points in this test.
In the CPU Throttling test, the Galaxy A34 maintained an average of 193 thousand points, it is a cell phone that hardly heats up. This score puts him very close to the POCO F3 and the A54, both scored 198,000 points.
I know that a lot of people will buy this phone to play games. Is the A34’s Mediatek better than the A54’s Exynos?
Games
From the scores, we saw that the A34 is not very far from A54 in performance, but how do they perform in games?
Check it out, on COD Mobile, both phones run at 40 frames and graphics on medium. No problems here. In Fortnite it’s the same story, an average of 55 frames on both devices.
But there are games that the A54 did better, like Diablo Immortal, where it unlocks 60 frames, while the A34 is stuck at 30. In the Genshin Impact, the A54 was with a seal not rotating, only took 27 frames, while the A34 surfed with an average of 37.
I was very surprised by the performance of the Galaxy A34. Even though he is cheaper, he manages to exchange punches, and even win, the A54.
Construction
Its look is very nice and we have several color options: Violet, green, black, and this one, silver. The silver and violet have this pearly finish that changes depending on which angle you look at it. If you don’t like this effect, be aware that the models in green and black have a matte finish.
.
The edges of the A34 have this metallic paint, but don’t be fooled, the phone is entirely made of plastic.
It’s a big phone and quite heavy too. If you like more compact cell phones, know that the A54 is smaller and lighter than the A34.
It does have stereo sound, a speaker at the bottom, near the USB-C port and another very small one near the front camera.
protections
The A34 has several protections: On the front, we have Gorilla Glass 5, protecting the screen once morest scratches, scratches and falls. In the external construction, we have IP-67 certification, once morest dust, sand, and diving in up to 1 meter of water for 30 minutes.
IP-67 certification on a cell phone under R$1500? Congratulations Samsung!
Here in Brazil we like to use our cell phones until they stop calling. Even when we change devices, the old one goes to a family member who is in need, so Samsung’s initiative to make a cheap and resistant cell phone is really cool.
Bodies
The screen is definitely a plus point of this phone. It has a Super AMOLED display (read here all regarding AMOLED screens) with 1000 nits of brightness and 120 Hz refresh rate. With that much brightness, I didn’t find any problems using the phone in the sun.
The screen size is 6.6 inches in size and follows the 19.5:9 ratio, that is, it is a little thicker than the screens of most cell phones that we are used to seeing, but if you are an iPhone user, you will feel at home, as these are the proportions that Apple uses in its cell phones.
.
The A34 is an intermediate cell phone – it is in the middle between the Galaxy A14 and the Galaxy A54. Both of these cell phones have very thick edges on the corners of the screen, something that caught my attention and I commented in the reviews as a negative point. The A34 doesn’t have that – the edges are kind of thin, but the real deal is that black outline around the selfie camera. It’s very 2019, there’s no practical reason for Samsung to come back with this fad.
Obviously, they did it only to visually differentiate this device from the more expensive Galaxy A54.
About image quality and fluidity, you already know. It doesn’t get any better than OLED at 120 Hz. Contrasts are excellent and the screen is very responsive. There are people who don’t care so much regarding an OLED screen on entry-level cell phones, as I prefer a thousand times more than an LCD screen.

Prices and competitors
As we record this video, the Galaxy A34 can be purchased here in Brazil for R$1400 in cash, a price that I consider fair for this device. In fact, we have excellent performance here – you can open several applications without the device “thinking”, great cameras – Samsung’s quality standard that continues to surprise, autonomy of more than a day of use, the top-of-the-line AMOLED screen. Anyway, there are many positive points for the A34. But in this price range, how are the other brands doing?
Motorola Moto G73
In competitors, on the Motorola side, we have the Moto G73. I won’t even spend a lot of time talking regarding it, since the G73 is worse than the Galaxy A34 in practically everything: on the screen we have an OLED from the A34 once morest IPS from the G73, in performance they are similar, but the A34 has a more updated Mediatek , and on battery power, the G73 didn’t even make it to the final of our test. Perhaps the only place Motorola wins here is cameras, but that’s debatable – even if it wins, it’s not by much.
With both in the same price range, around R$1400, there is no reason to choose the Moto G73.
Redmi Note 12S
Also competing once morest the A34, we have Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 12S. In the same price range, they are quite different, and the Note 12S does beat the A34 in some aspects, such as RAM, storage, 33W fast charging, 3.5mm headphone jack and probably more stuff too. Even so, the A34 has a more powerful processor and 120Hz screen, the 12S has a 90Hz screen. I can’t talk regarding battery and cameras yet, since the Note 12S hasn’t passed our tests yet, so comment below if you want to see a comparison between the Galaxy A34 and the Redmi Note 12S.
Conclusion
So far, in the middle of 2023, I’m recommending three cell phones: the Galaxy M14, which is a basic cell phone, cheap, but that leaves nothing to be desired. This one, the A34, a perfect cell phone for most people, and the A54 for those who use their cell phones a lot, enjoy taking pictures, making stories, and need better cameras. These devices are between 300~400 reais apart from each other, so it’s up to you to watch our reviews and decide whether or not the extra investment is worth it. What we can say is that the Galaxy A34 is undoubtedly one of the best Samsung phones in 2023.

Overall, I was really surprised by the Galaxy A34. We really like reviewing top-of-the-line cell phones, like the Zenfone 10, Iphone 13 Pro Max, S23 Ultra, but I confess that I have a lot more fun reviewing cheap cell phones, and the A34 is amazing, for 1400 really worth buying.
The notes that the Galaxy A34 received were:
Cameras: 8.5 Battery: 9.0 Performance: 9.0 Design & Build: 8.8 Screen: 8.5 OVERALL RESULT: 8.8
With this result, the A34 took 15th place in our ranking of the best cell phones analyzed here at Oficina da Net, highlighting the amount charged for it at the time, which makes it the best value for money among smartphones in this price range.
