iTunes’ days are now numbered on Windows

Offered since 2023 in beta version on the Microsoft Store and on the Apple website, the Apple Music, Apple TV and Apple Devices apps are now available in official version on Windows 10 and 11. These apps are intended to replace the iTunes software on Microsoft’s operating system, as has been the case for several years on Apple computers.

Apple explains that once the three new applications are installed (it is not possible to install just one), it will no longer be possible to see any music or video content in iTunes. “You also can’t use iTunes to manually sync and manage your iPhone or iPad,” announcement the Cupertino company. The software will only be used to access podcasts and audiobooks, perhaps before the arrival of other dedicated apps Apple Podcasts and Apple Books, as on MacOS. However, Apple advises not to delete the iTunes library, since the new Apple Music and Apple TV apps use it to play content.

iTunes will still work on older versions of Windows that don’t support Apple’s three new apps.
