As Christmas approaches, anyone who wishes can once again take a trip to the state forest to bring their favorite Christmas tree for the holidays. You can find all the necessary information and the instructions for taking a suitable tree on the RMK app and website.
RMK has been offering the opportunity to choose your own Christmas tree from the state forest since 2008. It is also a good opportunity to take a nice forest trip with family or friends and explore winter forest life.
The principles of which tree to choose as a Christmas tree are the same as in previous years. Spruce is allowed to be taken from the state forest in those places where it has no hope of growing: from the edges of roads and ditches, under power lines and old forest.
From the RMK mobile application and website www.rmk.ee/kuuseke finds a helpful online map that positions the location of the tree finder and shows the nearest places where the Christmas tree can be cut down.
It is important to remember that spruce must not be taken from forest regeneration or protected areas. A young spruce can be recognized by the fact that the trees are regularly maintained and are mostly of the same height. Protected areas are marked in brown and demarcated on the national forest map, and are also mostly marked with signs in nature.
The month must be paid for before it is taken off, using a mobile or bank payment. An SMS proving the payment or confirmation of the payment order should be included in the forest. It is also possible to pay for a tree with a mobile phone until December 31
The price list is the same as in previous years. A Christmas tree up to one meter costs 3 euros, 1-2 meters 8 euros and 2-3 meters 13 euros. You can also buy taller fir trees, the prices of which are listed on the RMK website.
The visuals of this year’s announcement by RMK helped to create an artificial branch, through which the desire is to especially emphasize the specialness of a real, self-sought Christmas tree brought from the forest. The message of the campaign is a contrast to the cartoonish image language created by artificial intelligence – you can get a real spruce from the state forest.
The equivalent amount earned from the sale of the Christmas tree will be used by RMK to raise forest awareness among students. Last year, more than 8,300 Christmas trees were brought from the state forest.
This year too, RMK presents a Christmas tree brought from the state forest to foster homes and several social institutions.

What are the best practices for selecting a sustainable Christmas tree in the state forest?
**Interview with RMK Spokesperson: Christmas Tree Picking in the State Forest**
**Interviewer**: Thank you for joining us today. Can you explain how the process of selecting a Christmas tree from the state forest works?
**RMK Spokesperson**: Thanks for having me! Each year, we provide the opportunity for individuals and families to visit the state forest and select their own Christmas trees. This is a tradition we’ve maintained since 2008. We want to encourage people to enjoy the beauty of winter while also contributing to forest conservation by taking trees from areas where they won’t thrive.
**Interviewer**: That sounds wonderful! What are some important guidelines that people need to follow when choosing their tree?
**RMK Spokesperson**: It’s essential to choose spruce trees from designated areas where they are not expected to grow successfully. This typically includes spots like the edges of roads, ditches, under power lines, and older forests. We’re trying to ensure that the growth of the forest remains sustainable while still making this activity enjoyable for everyone.
**Interviewer**: What kind of tools or resources do you provide to assist people in the tree-picking process?
**RMK Spokesperson**: We have an RMK mobile application as well as a dedicated website at www.rmk.ee/kuuseke, where individuals can access all the necessary information. The app includes an online map that helps users locate suitable areas for finding trees, along with guidelines and tips for selecting a tree.
**Interviewer**: That’s very helpful! Aside from picking trees, what else can families look forward to when they visit the forest?
**RMK Spokesperson**: We encourage families to spend quality time together during their visit. It’s not just about picking a tree; it’s also an opportunity to explore the winter forest and enjoy its natural beauty. A walk through the snowy landscape can be incredibly refreshing and fun!
**Interviewer**: Lastly, do you have any recommendations for how to make the most out of the tree-picking experience?
**RMK Spokesperson**: Definitely! We suggest taking a thermos filled with hot drinks, wearing warm clothes, and enjoying a leisurely picnic after finding your tree. Bring along some family or friends to make it even more special. This experience is not just about the tree; it’s about creating lasting memories with loved ones.
**Interviewer**: Thank you for your insights! It sounds like a fantastic way to celebrate the holiday season while appreciating nature.
**RMK Spokesperson**: Thank you! We hope to see many people out in the forest this year enjoying this wonderful tradition. Happy holidays!
