As Christmas approaches, anyone who wishes can once again take a trip to the state forest to bring their favorite Christmas tree for the holidays. You can find all the necessary information and the instructions for taking a suitable tree on the RMK app and website.
RMK has been offering the opportunity to choose your own Christmas tree from the state forest since 2008. It is also a good opportunity to take a nice forest trip with family or friends and explore winter forest life.
The principles of which tree to choose as a Christmas tree are the same as in previous years. Spruce is allowed to be taken from the state forest in those places where it has no hope of growing: from the edges of roads and ditches, under power lines and old forest.
From the RMK mobile application and website www.rmk.ee/kuuseke finds a helpful online map that positions the location of the tree finder and shows the nearest places where the Christmas tree can be cut down.
It is important to remember that spruce must not be taken from forest regeneration or protected areas. A young spruce can be recognized by the fact that the trees are regularly maintained and are mostly of the same height. Protected areas are marked in brown and demarcated on the national forest map, and are also mostly marked with signs in nature.
The month must be paid for before it is taken off, using a mobile or bank payment. An SMS proving the payment or confirmation of the payment order should be included in the forest. It is also possible to pay for a tree with a mobile phone until December 31
The price list is the same as in previous years. A Christmas tree up to one meter costs 3 euros, 1-2 meters 8 euros and 2-3 meters 13 euros. You can also buy taller fir trees, the prices of which are listed on the RMK website.
The visuals of this year’s announcement by RMK helped to create an artificial branch, through which the desire is to especially emphasize the specialness of a real, self-sought Christmas tree brought from the forest. The message of the campaign is a contrast to the cartoonish image language created by artificial intelligence – you can get a real spruce from the state forest.
The equivalent amount earned from the sale of the Christmas tree will be used by RMK to raise forest awareness among students. Last year, more than 8,300 Christmas trees were brought from the state forest.
This year too, RMK presents a Christmas tree brought from the state forest to foster homes and several social institutions.

How can participants locate designated areas for selecting their Christmas trees?
**Interview with RMK Representative about Christmas Tree Gathering from State Forests**
**Interviewer:** Thank you for joining us today. As we approach the festive season, many families are excited about the opportunity to select their own Christmas tree from the state forest. Can you tell us more about this initiative?
**RMK Representative:** Absolutely! This tradition has been a part of our community since 2008. We encourage families and friends to venture into the state forest to find their perfect Christmas tree. Not only is it a fun experience, but it also allows people to appreciate the beauty of our forests during winter.
**Interviewer:** That sounds wonderful! What kind of trees can people choose, and are there specific guidelines they should follow?
**RMK Representative:** Great question. Typically, we allow the collection of spruce trees that are located in areas where they have little chance of thriving. This includes trees along the edges of roads, ditches, and under power lines. We want to ensure that we manage the forest sustainably while still providing people with a unique holiday experience.
**Interviewer:** How can participants find the locations of suitable trees?
**RMK Representative:** We’ve made this easier by providing an online map through our RMK mobile app and website, www.rmk.ee/kuuseke. The map shows designated areas where people can find trees. We also have detailed instructions and tips for selecting the right tree.
**Interviewer:** That’s very helpful! Beyond just gathering a tree, what other benefits does this initiative offer participants?
**RMK Representative:** Besides taking home a beautiful Christmas tree, it’s an excellent opportunity for outdoor activities. Families can enjoy a walk in nature, learn about forest ecosystems, and create lasting memories together. It’s a chance to disconnect from daily routines and enjoy the tranquility of the forest.
**Interviewer:** What are some tips you would suggest for someone who is going tree hunting for the first time?
**RMK Representative:** I’d recommend dressing warmly and wearing sturdy boots, as the forest trails can be uneven and muddy. Bring along tools like a saw if needed, and make sure to check our app for the most current guidelines. Also, take your time – don’t rush the process of finding the tree that feels just right!
**Interviewer:** Thank you for sharing this information! It sounds like a fantastic way to celebrate the holiday season while also respecting our natural resources.
**RMK Representative:** Thank you for having me! We’re thrilled to continue this tradition and hope many families will join us in the forest this year. Happy tree hunting!
