A weather forecast for Italy in the coming days, starting first with an overview of what awaits Europe in general. This is the weather analysis broadcast on La7 during Coffee Break: “After the episodes of instability in recent days, although not for everyone, high pressure is strengthening over the Mediterranean. High pressure is present on the ground over the nearby Atlantic, in contrast with the depression of Iceland, very active in its natural position. At altitude, the subtropical anticyclonic promontory will strengthen in the coming days, with more stable and warm weather, but probably without reaching the peaks of the past few days. However, there will be some exceptions”.
And here are the forecasts day by day, starting from Monday 5 August: “In a context of generally clear or slightly cloudy skies, we expect the development of some showers or thunderstorms first on the northern reliefs, then especially in the afternoon on the more internal ones of the center and Sardinia. More intense and probable in northern Calabria and central-northern Sicily, all of which will be isolated, except for Sicily where the phenomena could be a little more numerous, unfortunately nothing that can solve the drought problem. The temperatures tell us that it is always quite hot, although we find values in the seasonal averages between Calabria and Sicily, above the average by a few degrees elsewhere. Peaks of 36 degrees in small areas of Romagna, Tuscany, Umbria and Basilicata. Lower values elsewhere, but then we must always take into account the local microclimates and the heat islands represented by the cities”.
We then move on to the weather forecast for Tuesday 6 August: “Classic summer regime with good weather in general especially in the morning, but with development of showers or thunderstorms during the day on the northern reliefs and along the central-southern Apennines. We do not exclude phenomena also in Sicily in the north-eastern internal areas. Temperatures with few variations, roughly there are the same variations compared to the climatic averages, this time again substantially in line with the averages between Sardinia and Sicily and about three to five degrees above the averages in the rest of Italy. The map of the variations in minimum temperatures compared to today shows us stationary values or at most a slight increase especially between Piedmont, Lombardy, Emilia Romagna and then on Molise, Puglia and Basilicata. The map of the variation in maximum temperatures shows us stationary temperatures everywhere, with some noteworthy increases only between Puglia, Basilicata and northern Calabria”.
The focus ends with a look at the weather forecast for Wednesday, August 7: “The trend towards a significant worsening in the northern regions is to be confirmed, starting from the western mountainous areas, extending to the rest of the north in the afternoon and evening of the day. Good weather elsewhere with some showers and afternoon thunderstorms in the southern Apennine areas. Stationary temperatures, we practically always have the same gap of 2-5 degrees compared to the averages for the period. However, be careful, the feeling of mugginess in the center-north will increase”.
