It’s over: Glenn Vandenberghe, the 29-year-old manager of Ter Duinen in Knokke-Heist, announces that the hotel has closed its doors for good, following 33 years of existence. As Het Nieuwsblad indicates, the cook learned everything in the family establishment. However, following the loss of his parents, he wants to focus on his career as a wakeboarder.
The closure project had been in the air for some time, reveals Glenn to our colleagues. “33 is a big number for me. That’s why I thought it would be nice to close just now. In addition, heavy investments had to be made before August for the hotel to remain open. All of this led to the decision to quit,” he explains.
The hotel has been closed since June 6. His keys will be given to a promoter who will demolish the establishment to make apartments. For his part, Glenn promises that he will return with a new project: “It’s the end of a chapter, but at the same time, we are preparing for something else”.
