“It’s popular, but beware of flooding accidents along the coast”

Nowadays, there are many people who enjoy ‘chabak’ sleeping in a car instead of a tent.

It is said that there are a number of accidents that occur while ‘chabak’ at the beach and get submerged in the water while falling asleep.

Two SUVs parked side by side on the waterfront were both submerged.

One has the rear trunk door open.

When I woke up in the morning from the so-called car park of sleeping in the car, the water had filled up to the wheels.

There was no casualty due to a hasty evacuation, but it was a dangerous situation where water might get into the car if it was noticed a little later.

In a nearby port, the car was flooded while I was sightseeing while parked on the ramp.

“There are cases where (vehicles or tents) are installed because there is no water on the shore, but when the water fills up, it fills up quickly and quickly…”

In the west coast, there is a large tidal difference, so it is not uncommon for water to quickly fill up where you think it is land.

In June, in Ongjin-gun, Incheon, three times in a month, a vehicle fell into the tidal flat or was submerged in high tide.

To avoid flooding accidents, check the high and low tide times for water in and out before parking your car.

If you are already trapped in the flood, you need to break the edge of the car’s side glass by hitting it hard to escape.

“If there is no object that can hit the window or there is not enough time, wait for more water to enter the vehicle and when the water level difference between the inside and outside of the vehicle is within 30cm, you can easily open the door and escape.”

Accidents have also occurred in which people are stranded in the sea while trying to experience the tidal flats at tourist destinations.

On the 16th, in Seocheon, South Chungcheong Province, a man in his 60s who was traveling with his family was isolated in the high tide and was rescued by the Coast Guard while holding a fishing net buoy.
