it’s played (mainly) between the Panthers and the Avalanche

Tonight, Claude Giroux will be able to play his 1000th game in the NHL. But the real question is knowing where he will play his 1001st game. Or his 1002nd, if ever he had to play another one by the deadline.

Obviously, we know that the Panthers are at the heart of the race. The latter do not want Ben Chiarot: they want Giroux.

At what point? To the point where the Panthers, who will obviously have to give Owen Tippett (for lack of a first choice and interest from the Flyers) in return, will take him out of the lineup tonight in the AHL.

Yes, the Panthers want the Cup…

It would be nice to see Giroux in Florida from a CH point of view. After all, the odds of him staying there long term are slim and without Giroux and Tippett at 22-23, maybe the 2023 first-round pick will be a tad better. A strand.

The odds of the Ontarian landing at Sunrise are good, then – and that’s my prediction at this point. Why?

Because the club wants to win now. It starts with Ben Chiarot and it can end with Giroux.

Moreover, according to Pierre LeBrun, several clubs wanted the defender of the Canadiens, but no one wanted him more than the Panthers. If the latter win the Cup, no one will mourn the loss of the first choice in Florida.

But that’s not all: going for Giroux would prevent the Avalanche from getting it. After all, if we project ourselves too far into the future, the chances of seeing the two clubs face off for the Stanley Cup are good.

And Colorado also wants Giroux.

According to LeBrun, these are the two teams that are clearly in the derby right now. There might be a third team whose identity has not been revealed, but these are the two logical destinations.

File to follow, therefore, but let’s not forget that there are not two Giroux on the market…
