The Xbox One console arrived on the shelves from November 2013 and will therefore celebrate its 10th anniversary this year. After a complicated launch, the console still performed well, but no games will be released on it anymore.

The Xbox One cycle is officially over

When the new Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S consoles were announced, Microsoft promised that we wouldn’t see games exclusive to the new machines coming for another year or two. And the promise was kept as the Xbox One was supported for regarding two more years.

But it is now over. In an interview with Axios, Xbox Studios director Matt Booty confirmed that the company is now focused exclusively on the new generation of consoles. No internal team is currently working on games for older-gen consoles, outside of supporting ongoing games like Minecraft, he said.

Matt Booty also took the opportunity to remind that current games that are only released on Xbox Series X | S and that are available in Xbox Game Pass can very often be played in the Cloud, and therefore on Xbox One in streaming for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers.
