The Finnish government has decided to “open a new era” by officially wanting to be part of the transatlantic defense alliance.
Finland has taken the decision to apply for NATO membership, the Nordic country’s president and prime minister announced on Sunday, a direct consequence of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. “It is a historic day. A new era is dawning,” Finnish President Sauli Niinistö told a press conference.
