It was revealed that a man in his 60s, who was undergoing an appeal trial on charges of stealing underwear from a resident in his 70s living in the same apartment, visited the resident’s house and knocked on the door several times saying “I like you” and called several times. The man was sentenced to prison and taken into custody.
The Chuncheon District Court’s Wonju Branch 2nd Criminal Division (Judge Lee Ji-soo) announced on the 4th that it had ordered a person in his 60s, who was charged with violating the Act on the Punishment of Stalking Crimes, to 8 months in prison and 40 hours of stalking treatment program.
Person A, who was being tried without detention, was arrested in court with a sentence of imprisonment.
In December 2020, Mr. A was sentenced to probation in the first trial for breaking into the house of Mr. B in his 70s, a resident of the same apartment, and stealing underwear.
However, while the appeal trial was in progress, Mr. A visited Mr. B’s house at 8 pm on April 27th and knocked on the door, shouting, “Open the door, I like you.” He was charged with stalking.
He called B at 4:08 pm on the 1st of the same month and at 6:44 pm on the 26th of the same month and was charged with stalking continuously and repeatedly.
The judge said, “It was not enough to receive a trial on the charge of breaking into the victim’s residence and stealing underwear, so he even committed a stalking crime.” I decided to take that into consideration,” he said.
