“It’s important to win even the close games”

Mark Grosse scored the golden goal from the penalty spot shortly after half-time. Ried could have taken the lead in the first half. The best chances were had by Ante Bajic, who headed the ball onto the crossbar after a perfect cross from David Bumberger, and Nikki Havenaar. The defender’s goal was disallowed due to an offside position. “I think we started well. If the goal had been given, the game would probably have gone differently. We defended well in the final phase, that’s part of it too. It was a deserved victory,” said new signing Martin Rasner in an interview with OÖNachrichten after the game.

“In terms of the atmosphere, it was a home game for us in Vienna, but now I’m really looking forward to my first match in the Innviertel Arena,” said Rasner, who is set to take on a leading role in Ried’s central midfield. Their opponent on Friday (6 p.m.) is SV Horn. “Horn has a young, up-and-coming team, but our goal is of course a home win,” said the 29-year-old.
