In the last few hours, Tropical Storm Debby, the fourth of this season, has formed, leaving abundant rains in Cuba and will affect Florida.

After passing through the west of the island on Saturday, in the early afternoon, it emerged into the Gulf of Mexico.

During this period, it produced rains over western and central Cuba, with an accumulated amount of 83 millimeters in Topes de Collantes, Sancti Spíritus between 8 in the morning and 2 in the afternoon on Saturday.

It was later learned that rainfall exceeded 100 mm in some places, sometimes 200 mm, up to a cumulative total of 399 mm in the province of Granma and also in Santiago de Cuba.

Tropical Storm Debby: Dangers for Florida

According to the National Hurricane Center, at 5:00 AM, the center of Tropical Storm Debby was located at 25.5 degrees North and 84.0 degrees West.

It is moving at 20 km/h in a north-northwesterly direction, but a turn towards the north and a slower movement are expected in the next few hours.

Maximum sustained winds have reached 53 mph (85 km/h), and further strengthening is forecast. Debby is expected to make landfall on Florida’s Big Bend coast Monday morning as a hurricane, with tropical-storm-force winds extending up to 135 miles (220 km) from its center. Heavy rainfall and dangerous storm surge are expected in the area.

According to Dr. Rubiera, rain is forecast for the morning of August 4 in Cuba, and rain at night in the west of the country. In the rest of the country, sun and some clouds are expected.

Minimum temperatures in the early morning will be between 22 and 25 degrees Celsius, while maximum temperatures tomorrow afternoon will range between 30 and 34 degrees Celsius, and could reach up to 35 degrees in some areas of the country.
