Compared to the situation that Morales commented on live TV, Milton’s power has decreased hour after hour: the hurricane has been downgraded to category 1, the lowest on the scale, but is still having devastating effects: victims, houses destroyed and entire areas without electricity. It is estimated that more than 2.5 million homes are without electricity. Milton hit land on the west coast of Florida, in Sarasota county, with winds of up to 165 km/h and numerous tornadoes, at least 27 reported by the authorities.
