It’s crazy what happened

Aris Spiliootopoulos spoke about the exclusion of the candidacy of Stefanos Kasselakis from the presidential election process in SYRIZA, commenting that “No democratic country has experienced something like the Kasselakis blockade”

“How is it possible in 2024 in a democratic country that a former president is suddenly barred from participating in an internal party process?” noted Mr. Spiliotopoulos speaking to SKAI.

“It’s crazy what happened, it escapes any rational interpretation” he added and wondered, in fact, “if you do not allow the world either approval or disapproval, are you afraid of it?”

“Who are the ones who will replace the thousands of voters who chose Mr. Kasselakis? There are no people who have the right in advance to express the will of the majority of the members of a party,” he added.

At the same time, as he said “everything was done by a tough party bureaucracy”, he then said about the next day to SYRIZA “I don’t know if we are going to conflict situations that will lead to a deadlock, but there is definitely a mental rift. Mr. Kasselakis was democratically elected and has every right to request reconfirmation of the popular mandate in his person.”
