Shobhana responds to the allegations made by Rajnikanth during the audio launch of Ponniyin Selvan

The shooting of Dalapati starts at a time when Rajnikanth is a superstar. Shobhana is the heroine of the film. Rajnikanth’s character comes on screen wearing very casual clothes. But Rajni was not ready to act in the film wearing a wrinkled shirt and shoes. On the first day, Mani Ratnam and his team did not notice Rajni who came to the set wearing shoes and a tight dress. They were having a big discussion.
Rajni said on stage that Shobhana told him that it was at this time that they were talking about you and that the plan was to cast Kamal Haasan as the hero. “I said something to tease you that day and it is true. But I never said to change the hero. I would have put him in between, because sir is very poor,” said Shobhana. Shobhana also shared the fun memories of when Rajni came to watch her dance performance.
Shobhana had once said in an interview that Mani Ratnam’s film ‘Dalapati’ was the most difficult film for her. Shobhana also remembers that Rajnikanth used to reach the sets very late. “The shooting time was very difficult. Most of the shooting took place in the early morning. Mani sir always says that if 300 people can reach the set on time then why not just one. I am among those 300 people. The film was made on a huge budget. The tactical aspects also struggled,” Shobhana added.
