Coming off at half-time in extra time, the captain of Les Bleus himself asked to come off, feeling “too tired” to continue. Without him, France qualified for the semi-finals of the Euro.

But moments before this session, Kylian Mbappé spoke to the group gathered around him. “Guys, don’t forget that it’s a technical move! Calm down! We’ve worked on it, it’s a technical move,” insisted the new Real Madrid player, in a speech broadcast by M6. “Ignore everything else. It’s you and the goalkeeper! “No matter what happens, we’re all together,” concluded Kylian Mbappé, before encouraging his teammates, in a down jacket during the session. “The most important thing is that we win, I only scored one goal and we’re in the semi-finals and I’m still very happy,” commented the former PSG striker followingwards.
“I now understand the people who are out there and going through this.”
In the mixed zone, Kylian Mbappé was asked how he experienced this session. “It’s even worse when you don’t shoot. You’re far from the goal, so of course I prefer to go there, but the guys shot really well,” noted Mbappé. “In fact, I now understand the people who are outside and who experience this. It’s as if we were a little outside, we’re super far away. We don’t hear the whistle, already, because there’s shouting. It’s crazy!”
Next Tuesday, the French team will face Spain in a semi-final. Les Bleus will definitely need Kylian Mbappé, who once once more appeared embarrassed once morest the Portuguese. “When you’re captain, you have to get over that and try to stay involved, to be there for your teammates,” commented the 25-year-old. “Before many competitions, I said that no matter what happens, the important thing is that we win. People thought it was a joke, but now we’re here. I only scored one goal, it’s true, but we’re in the semi-final and I’m very happy.”
