Héma-Québec nurses, without a contract for nearly 4 years, who are demonstrating this Sunday at Place Versailles in Montreal, are demanding pay parity with their colleagues in the public network.
“It’s a lack of respect for our profession,” said Vanessa Poirier, president of the union of Héma-Québec nursing assistants.
The nurses believe they have reached a dead end in negotiations with Héma-Québec.
They argue that the CEO of Héma-Québec would have been entitled to a 30% salary increase from 2019 to 2020, and say they are all the more shocked, since they did not have an increase. salary since 2018.
Laurent Paul Ménard, director of public relations for Héma-Québec, however, argues that these allegations by the nurses are erroneous.
“If we associate the chief executive with the president and chief executive officer, the information is false, her salary adjustment was 5%”, a growth deemed “completely reasonable”, according to Mr. Ménard.
The CSQ has already ordered a 4-day strike and the CSN might ask for a new strike mandate to counter what it describes as injustice.
The possibility of a continuation of their protest actions is not excluded.
Another demonstration will also take place in Quebec.
