“It’s a crime”, two Rai journalists in the crosshairs –

The Tg1 report on the ongoing Ukrainian offensive in Russian territory is becoming a case. The Russian Ministry of the Interior intends to initiate criminal proceedings against two Rai journalists who made a report from the Kursk region. This was reported on Telegram Baza, a channel close to Russian services, according to which it would be a criminal proceeding under Article 322 of the Russian Criminal Code “illegal crossing of the state border”. Stefania Battistini and Simone Traini broadcast a report from the Russian city of Sudzha, on the border with Ukraine, which is under the control of Kiev forces. During the report, vehicles hit near the border were shown and journalists spoke with local residents who remained in the city.

Another Telegram channel, that of the Russian state TV propagandist Vladimir Solovyov, relaunched a post stating that “the Italian journalist violated the criminal code of the Russian Federation and illegally crossed the border with terrorist formations of the Armed Forces of Ukraine”. “The report was broadcast by Tg1, which apparently ordered the material and encourages such actions”, the message underlines.

As far as we know, the Farnesina has not yet received any official communication on the possibility that the Russian Interior Ministry will open criminal proceedings against the two Tg1 journalists. The Russian ministry has not officially commented on the rumors, but has nevertheless reminded “foreign correspondents of the need to respect the rules.” “We ask you to contact the Interior Ministry about this,” Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova told AGI when asked to confirm Moscow’s intentions towards the Tg1 correspondents. “However, we once again invite foreign correspondents to pay attention to the need to respect the rules of permanence on the territory of the Russian Federation,” Zakharova added.
