For the first time on African soil, the Teranga country is preparing to host the world conference on the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI). To do this, ITIE Senegal to invite the national press around an Ndogou to discuss the contours of this major event which will take place on June 13 and 14, 2023 in Dakar.

Indeed, the global conference on the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative is held every three years. Thus this inclusive world conference is an opportunity to discuss in a first on the achievements in terms of transparency of natural resources, to find avenues of reflection to popularize the extractive sector for the benefit of the living conditions of the populations in the resource-rich countries. To do so, an important part will be devoted to negotiations between country and company on requirements such as the publication of contracts, on production costs.

Moreover, Awa Marie col Seck, president of EITI Senegal in her welcome address assures that the board of directors of the global EITI wanted to entrust this conference to Senegal because the country has good results in terms of transparency. of the extractive sector. “It’s an opportunity for exchange, it will allow us to capitalize on 20 years of implementation of the EITI, (…) but we are a member of the EITI in 2013, it’s been 10 years (…) so things have been made and it is an extremely important conference” assures the President of EITI Senegal.

To this end, this extremely important world conference whose theme is “transparency in transition”, will make it possible to capitalize on the achievements in terms of transparency and maximize the benefits on gas and oil that Senegal will soon benefit from.
