Entities representing digital certification were received last Tuesday (30/01) by the National Institute of Information Technology (ITI) in Brasília.

The agenda dealt with projects for the strengthening and modernization of the Brazilian Public Key Infrastructure – ICP-Brazil, clarifications on the concerns of registration authorities pertinent to projects and changes in the market, especially with regard to regulatory issues, and the recomposition of the Management Committee and its return to activities.

The main highlight of the meeting was the demonstration of the relevance and importance of the registration authorities for ICP-Brazil, who expressed their desire to participate as protagonists in the transformation and modernization scenario to be implemented, contributing with ideas and opinions in the design of the changes that will occur.

According to the executive president of the Association of Brazilian Registration Authorities (AARB), Jorge Prates, present at the meeting, the almost 2500 registration authorities employ approximately 44 thousand registration agents in the country. “The number of other employees linked to various internal sectors such as information technology, programming, human resources, standards and compliance, auditing, financial, commercial, among others, is considerable. This is a fact that considerably increases the relevance of ARs with their economic potential and, above all, employability,” he said.

“This cutting-edge structure, created since the creation of ICP-Brazil, brought the necessary capillarity so that the digital certificate might reach the corners of Brazil, and more recently, the world, providing a secure digital identity to citizens and companies”, he highlighted. the director of the Association, Bruno Linhares.

AARB, together with the Brazilian Association of Software Companies (ABES), demonstrated interest in maintaining open communication channels, including proposing the re-creation of the Working Group of the Executive Technical Committee of the Brazilian Public Key Infrastructure Management Committee – Cotec /CG-ICP-Brasil or technical working groups that assist in this process. Finally, the entities expressed the relevance of the digitalization of Brazil and the need for ITI in debates in government and society, especially due to the body’s technical understanding of cybersecurity issues.

Enylson Camolesi, who was appointed director president of the National Institute of Information Technology (ITI) on December 12, 2023, discussed, at the meeting, the technological evolution promoted by Gov.br and listened to the segment’s demands regarding security issues . He also highlighted the intensification of agendas linked to the modernization of ICP-Brazil, reconstitution of the Management Committee and dialogue with other voices from the market and the State linked to technology.

Camolesi also spoke of the challenge of assuming the presidency of the ITI, especially at this time of leading the National Identity Card (CNI), with the aim of enabling the universal identification of Brazilian citizens and listened to the desire of the registration authorities to participate in this project, with its entire qualified and prepared structure. He also recalled that ITI is open to contributions aimed at modernizing the country, highlighting the importance of ICP-Brazil entities, especially registration authorities in this scenario.

“It is important that decisions on the modernization of ICP-Brazil take into account the economic and social aspects of our segment, without forgetting the great economic and organizational structure and the jobs generated by the Registration Authorities”, added the director of AARB , Eduardo Assis.

Jorge Prates reiterated his support for the new management and the capacity for dialogue that ITI has with the market. “The registration authorities have the expertise in directly serving the end customer and know their pain points and experiences with the digital certificate. Technological advances are urgent with the pressing demands of Brazilian society, and actions need to be quick, effective and taking into account the preservation of jobs and the entire economic structure that involves our segment. The year 2024 holds great experiences and advances for ICP-Brasil”, he added.
