ITF Juniors-Oran international tournament: The Algerian Boudjemaoui shines

L’Algerian Wissal Boudjemaoui won yesterday the final of the international tennis tournament ITF-juniors J30, which took place at the Habib halil tennis complex in Haï Es Salam (Oran). The young Oranaise, seeded N.6, won ahead of Tunisian Lina Soussi, seeded N.3 in three sets (2-6, 7-5, 6-3). However, Boudjemaoui got off to a bad start in his final by losing the first set (2-6), but that was without counting on his desire not to give up, which allowed him to come back in force in the next two rounds once morest the favorite N.1 of the tournament. Boudjemaoui is the only Algerian to have managed to reach advanced rounds in this first international circuit-ITF junior J30 tournament in Oran, placed under the authority of Algerian referee Abderrahmane Cherifa, and organized by the Tennis Club Noble d’Oran and the Haï Salem club, under the aegis of the Algerian Tennis Federation. A desire welcomed by his trainer, Djilali Laslah, who was full of praise for his athlete, praising his psychological potential. “After losing the first set, Wissal was somewhat affected, but I was sure she would come back strong, because I know my athlete quite well, a real winner and who does not give up easily”, he told APS following the final. For Djilali Laslah, this kind of tournament “constitutes a godsend for young Algerian athletes to rub shoulders with the world’s top level and gain experience”. Among the boys, the last word went to the Russian Avdeev Philip who beat the Portuguese Cruz Rodrigo in the final (4-6/7-5/6-4). This tournament, led by Mohamed Idris Kerroum, brought together 91 girls and boys athletes representing 20 countries. A second tournament of the same kind is scheduled for March 6 and will last until March 11 on the same site.
