Rarely in the long history of political instability in Italy has the time to trigger another government crisis been chosen worse than these hours: A brutal war is raging in Europe, the number of corona cases is skyrocketing once more, there is a lack of energy and inflation, the Companies are suffering from supply shortages and agriculture is suffering from the worst drought in living memory. And yet Mario Draghi’s government is threatening to fall today – of all things because of a decree intended to mitigate the consequences of this multiple crisis with state aid totaling 23 billion euros.
