Italy and the UAE discuss opportunities to enhance climate cooperation

The Embassy of Italy in Abu Dhabi, in cooperation with the leading Italian business newspaper Il Sole 24 Ore, hosted a seminar entitled “Italy and the United Arab Emirates towards the path of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28) Engaging the private sector in keeping pace with the transition in the energy sector”. They discussed the importance of exploring new opportunities for bilateral cooperation and applying solutions to keep pace with the ongoing transformation in the energy sector.

Following the announcement of the agreement between Italy and the United Arab Emirates, which provided for strengthening cooperation between the two countries towards the Climate Conference (COP28), which was signed by Sultan Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, the UAE’s Special Envoy for Climate Change, and the appointed president of the twenty-eighth session of the Conference of the Parties in United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28) Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Antonio Tajani, Italian companies and world leaders in clean energy technological solutions are seeking to contribute to keeping pace with the transformation of the energy sector and making the climate conference (COP28) exceptional by all standards, to achieve tangible results For everyone and for everyone.

Commenting on the symposium, Antonio Tajani, Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, said: “In early March, we signed an agreement with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and Sultan bin Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology and President-designate of the 28th session of the Climate Conference (COP28). Only governments can tackle climate change, we need everyone’s input.”

He added: “The UAE has pledged to adopt a comprehensive and integrated approach, making the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28) a conference in which all parties participate and work for all, and youth and the private sector must be involved as key players in making This shift.”
