The Santander Police attended the case and according to the information they gave, the man was transferred to a care center near the place where the events occurred. There he was treated and is out of danger.

“A 72-year-old man of foreign nationality was injured. The facts would have been recorded when he was traveling to the farm; he allegedly was approached by two individuals who tried to rob him; he received two injuries, one to the arm and one to the chest. He is stable and out of danger,” said Colonel Savin Andrade, commander of the Santander Police.

The Santander police authorities are behind the trail of the two subjects who attacked the Italian scientist, who has been living in Bogotá for more than 22 years and works as Scientific and Technological Deputy Director at the Amazon Institute for Scientific Research.

For his part, the mayor of Barichara, alfonso rodriguez, said that they are going to work to find the whereregardings of the two subjects as soon as possible; while he announced that they will reinforce the security measures in the municipality during this King’s Day holiday, as they expect the arrival of at least 30,000 tourists.
