Italian Prime Minister discusses the Libyan crisis in Algeria

Diplomatic sources in the Algerian capital confirmed yesterday that Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi will visit Algeria tomorrow to discuss bilateral cooperation and regional and international issues, especially the situation in Libya, and the repercussions of the Russian military operation in Ukraine.
The sources said that Draghi will hold talks with Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, on bilateral cooperation files, as well as international situations at various levels.
She indicated that the Libyan crisis, and the repercussions of the Russian military operation in Ukraine on energy markets in particular, will be at the forefront of the talks between Tebboune and Draghi.
Two sources said that Draghi will sign an agreement to increase gas imports, as Rome steps up efforts to explore alternative sources following the Russian attack on Ukraine.
A source said Draghi will be accompanied by a delegation, which is expected to include the head of the Italian energy group Eni, Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maio and Environmental Transformation Minister Roberto Cingolani.
