The Italian police arrested French midfielder Timoy Bakayoko, 27, who is currently loaned to AC Milan, at gunpoint on a street in Milan, on suspicion of him.

“Once the person was identified and it was established that he was not involved, searches have resumed,” the statement added.

For his part, a Milan media spokesman said, “The player happened to be in an area where there was an exchange of fire, and the police started carrying out searches.”
He indicated that the player had already been suspended, but as soon as the police verified that he had nothing to do with what happened, “they apologized and released him”, according to the Italian newspaper (La Gazzetta dello Sport).
In this context, press reports stated that the former Chelsea player was pulled from his car and searched by an officer, while policemen were pointing their firearms at the passengers in Bakayoko’s car, and then discovered that he was a player (AC Milan) and not the person they were looking for.
