(ANSA) – The Italian Navy training ship Amerigo Vespucci (Americo Vespucio), “the most beautiful in the world”, carried out this Tuesday the “Passex” exercise with the patrol boat Macao, of the Northeast Naval Patrol Group Command , in the waters of Fortaleza, Ceará, in northern Brazil.
The “Passex” exercises consist of the joint navigation of different Navies, when their routes allow for joint training, raising the level of training of the ships and strengthening the ties of friendship between both nations.
Communication exercises with searchlights, tactical maneuvers and short-distance passage were carried out between Americo Vespucio and Macao, with greetings between ships according to naval traditions.
The Italian ship will remain in Fortaleza between October 4 and 8, at dock 106 of the Port of Mucuripe.
The next stop of the “floating embassy” will be in Rio de Janeiro. The Americo Vespucio set sail in July from the port of Genoa (northern Italy) to undertake a world tour in which she will travel across three oceans and dock in 28 countries for 20 months.
