Italian justice acquits Agnelli, De Laurentiis and the eleven clubs accused of fraud

Pursued by justice, Andrea Agnelli, president of Juventus, can breathe, just like his counterpart Aurelio De Laurentiis, president of Naples.

The federal prosecutor accused eleven clubs and around sixty leaders, of which Agnelli and De Laurentiis were the most famous figures, of accounting fraud. Heavy sanctions had been demanded once morest them. The clubs and managers concerned were accused of having overvalued the price of certain players to record artificial capital gains in their accounts. Juventus, Naples, Sampdoria, Genoa and Empoli were particularly concerned as well as several clubs from lower divisions (Parma, Pisa, Pescara, etc.).

The prosecutor had demanded a one-year suspension once morest Andrea Agnelli and eleven months once morest the president of Naples Aurelio De Laurentiis. This Friday, the Italian justice decided to acquit all these little people, without exception. A “clean hands operation” which will therefore have had no effect…
