In the latest Windows 11 23H2 build, Microsoft has incorporated a new section in its Settings to manage system apps. In the same way as Application, it will be possible to uninstall this software or consult certain information regarding them. The feature is still being tested.

Uninstalling an application on Windows is, in theory, quite easy. We go to Settings, select the software you want to get rid of then click on Uninstall. However, the operation can quickly turn out to be laborious when you have a certain number of applications on your PC. Especially since Windows doesn’t really make the task easy, with its significant number of more or less useful bloatware.

Microsoft is obviously aware of this since a new Settings section has just appeared in the latest build of Windows 11 for Insiders. Baptized System components (System Components in the language of Shakespeare), it seems to work in exactly the same way as its big sister Applicationsdisplaying the list of all system applications on the user’s PC.

This new page does not replace the section Applications, but rather completes it — allowing you to do a little cleaning along the way. Concretely, it is nothing more and nothing less than a related section, in which all applications on Windows considered as “system”, extensions and other codes installed on the PC will be placed.

In other words, when you want to manage an application that you know is linked to Windows, such as the screenshot tool or the calculator, you will just have to go to this tab to find it. Although we do not yet know when this new feature will find its way into a stable build, Microsoft seems determined to deploy it. Proof of this is the addition of additional details, such as the mention of System Components in the Start menu as well as in the Microsoft Store, which will make it possible to better differentiate them.
