The municipality has already signed a public-private partnership agreement with UAB “Baltled” and UAB “Išmanus gatvių įlľių” regarding the development of the road and street lighting system of Klaipėda district settlements. Residents of all wards will feel the changes.
“This is really happy and long-awaited news for the residents of our district. More than 90 streets throughout the district, which until now have been dark, will finally be lit, which means that we will live more comfortably and safely. In general, it is good that we are confidently moving towards one of our goals – to fix the district’s lighting. The lighting network in the entire district has already been modernized – LED lights are not only more economical, but also of higher quality. Well, now the light will come where it was not yet. From Agluonėnai to Vēžaičiai, from Priekulė to Sendvaris – in the next two years the district will be illuminated. We are implementing this project through a public-private partnership – it is certainly not the easiest way, but this way the Municipality does not need to pay several million euros right away, so we have the opportunity to distribute the funds to other works, and we pay the private partner in installments over a dozen years. I hope that the private investor also understands the importance of this project for the residents of our district and will make every effort to ensure that the work goes smoothly,” says Klaipėda District Mayor Bronius Markauskas.
A partnership agreement for the development of lighting was signed with UAB “Baltled” and UAB “Išmanus gatvių ilještės”, which undertook to install new lighting networks within 2 years and to maintain and repair them for 13 years. It is planned that the design work will take place in the next year, and from 2025 – the installation of lighting. It is estimated that the private investor will have to make more than 6.7 million. EUR initial investment, following which the Municipality will pay for the management and maintenance of the newly installed lighting system for 13 years at the rate of approximately one million EUR annually.

Therefore, we look forward to when we can contribute to brighter and safer streets of Klaipėda district”, says Vytautas Milieška, head of the professional lighting department of Baltled UAB.
