“My husband and I were in shock, we just flew to the nearest hospital, our daughter did not react to anything. In the emergency department, the doctor said that it looked like an epileptic attack, or poisoning. The child was taken to intensive care, connected to a ventilator.
As a result, the doctors diagnosis of acute varicella encephalitis, but they did not give any forecasts, it was only regarding saving lives. Five hours later, the daughter was taken to the regional hospital in a serious condition. We went by car to pick her up, we just mightn’t leave the baby. But we were sent home. They said the road went well. At home, I might not sleep – I cried, terrible thoughts climbed into my head.
The next day, we were allowed to see our daughter, the emotions are difficult to describe, but the forecasts were comforting, and for some reason, somewhere inside, I felt that she would cope … “
“Part of me stayed in intensive care”
“After a day in intensive care, which we will probably never forget, the daughter was transferred to the infectious diseases department. At first, I was afraid that the child would have some setbacks in development. But she was cheerful, ran, talked, asked to buy her ice cream.
We spent two weeks in the infectious ward, and for two weeks now we have been at home. According to the tests and MRI, everything is fine with my daughter’s health – as it was before the illness. Only now we have fear for the rest of our lives. And a part of me remained there, in intensive care … “
