“It was enough to knock me unconscious”

On a trip to Las Vegas, this client will not soon forget his stay in a hotel in the American city. When he opens the minibar in his room, he almost faints when he discovers the exorbitant prices of alcohol, soft drinks or even snacks inside. Among these, the sum of $31 (or 28 euros) was struck for a one-liter bottle of water. “It was enough to make me lose consciousness,” he reacted to reporters from the Sun. But the price of the most expensive item was the 200ml bottle of Patron, which came in at $75 (69 euros).

“It was not easy to find these prices,” he comments. “There was no printed sign next to the refrigerator warning that your wallet was going to be emptied faster than in Russian roulette.” Shocked by his discovery, he decided to share his story on social networks and sparked many reactions.

Among Internet users, one person notably recounted his misadventure in another American hotel. “I was at the MGM Aria Resort, where they have advanced minibars that use sensors that can detect when an item is moved or changes in size or weight,” he said.
