Richard Debien will remember his evening of May 21, 2022 for a long time. The resident of Saint-Jérôme in the Laurentians, whose house was damaged by storms and winds, has never seen Mother Nature unleashed so much.

“It started at supper time. It started to wind very hard, the trees were lying on the ground. The neighbour’s roof fell over my edge and a large tree fell carrying the electrical wires. It hit hard. At the height of the storm, the head of my 20-foot birch tree touched the ground, ”explains Mr. Debien calmly to TVA Nouvelles.
“We have never seen that here! Yesterday was the commotion here, the firefighters came. It was windy, it was raining. It was crazy. The rain fell sideways, not vertically. It’s quite impressive,” says Richard Debien.
The Jérômien is relieved that no one was injured by the debris blown by the wind. He has already contacted his insurance and a specialized company will pick up the damage around his home.
The roof of his residence was damaged, but “at least it’s not raining in the house”, says Mr. Debien philosophically.
