IT: ‘Saudi Arabia determined to work together with Pakistan’

The 25th edition of the Information Technology and Telecom Expo and Conference (ITCN Asia) is underway at the Expo Center in Karachi.

750 companies including global brands like Google, TikTok, Microsoft, Odo, Huawei, PTCL and EasyPaisa are participating in this three-day expo.

Minister of State for IT and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja has said that the government is committed to strengthening the digital ecosystem to accelerate socio-economic development and increase economic growth by promoting knowledge-based economy.

ITCN Asia President Dr Khurshid Nizam said that ‘SIFC is playing an exemplary role for the improvement of Pakistan’s economy and investment, the fruits of which are also getting the IT sector.

‘Every year ITCN Asia provides a platform for innovation, and economic development for all stakeholders, from policy makers to global and local technical institutions, professionals and thinkers.’

Khursheed Nizam expected that ITCN Asia will generate more than $500 million in investment and business income, which will also contribute significantly to Pakistan’s economy.

According to Khurshid Nizam: ‘Saudi Arabia wants to work with Pakistan on joint ventures in information technology because Saudi National has capital to invest while we have low-wage employees.

‘Under these joint projects, Saudi Arabia wants to promote business in Pakistan and in its own country.’

He further said that Pakistan’s IT sector is growing rapidly with the continuous increase in its exports and the expansion of local companies in various countries.

“Global companies are expanding partnerships with Pakistani companies, paving the way for the growth of local industries, while SIFC continues its three-year streak of IT growth.”

On this occasion, HRVs CEO Rida Shamim said that there are numerous opportunities in the IT sector in the Gulf countries. By providing software facility we can put any organization on the path of success.

“Saudi Arabia has paid special attention to the IT sector and has made good investments, due to which there are also job opportunities, especially for local people.”

Syed Saad Ali, CEO of Hexlezi, said that ‘Pakistan has talent but lacks opportunities, there is a lot of work in the IT sector in Saudi Arabia.

“Arabic software language is easy for Pakistanis to understand and if more attention is paid, this situation can be improved in the coming days.”

The organizers of the expo said that more than 700 companies are participating in the conferences to be held in conjunction with the 25th edition of ITCN Asia, more than 300 speakers will address it while 70 thousand people associated with the industry are expected to participate.

The event includes 270 foreign delegates from 18 countries including Saudi Arabia, China, Singapore, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Iran, Egypt, United Arab Emirates etc. The exhibition and conference will continue till August 29.

The aim of the three-day exhibition is to facilitate investors and entrepreneurs involved in the IT industry to make Pakistan an emerging technology hub in the world.
