The Ministry of Health and Population published, on its official Facebook page, a “video” that reveals the percentage of Egyptians’ consumption of tobacco, and the death rates due to this smoking.
The Ministry of Health stated that tobacco in all its forms, such as: cigarettes, hookahs, heated tobacco and electronic cigarettes, kills 50% of smokers.
She pointed out that regarding 22.8% of smokers in Egypt consume tobacco, including 18% of middle school students.
She stressed that tobacco causes serious problems such as high blood pressure, heart attacks, shortness of breath and lung and bladder cancer, noting that regarding 45% of non-smokers and children are exposed to tobacco risks.
She pointed out that heated tobacco is as deadly and destructive as regular cigarettes, shisha and electronic cigarettes such as: nicotine, cadmium, and tar.
