That’s it ! Lovers of jazz and discoveries will have plenty to fill their ears with on the weekends of August 3, 4 and 5: blue music takes up residence at the convent of the Friars Minor. The rally-jazz formula, created in Huy and whose original concept has been taken up in many European cities, is therefore replaced by a unique venue. “This traditional formula is not, however, once definitively abandoned, says Joël Hahaut, but it is above all a question of starting again on a sound basis in terms of finances, and the formula of concerts in different places in the city remains in our minds. .”

There will still be a place where jazz will be free, “Le Cortina” at Sarte will offer, on August 6 at 4 p.m., a gypsy concert by Tchavo Berger. As for the concerts at the convent, the program is particularly enticing this year and should attract the public. On Friday, Marc Frankinet’s quartet will present the repertoire of its recent album “In a little provincial town”, a title which refers to a composition by the saxophonist from Liège Bobby Jaspar, all the compositions of the album being from the pen of musicians from Liège. like Jacques Pelzer, René Thomas, José Bedeur and many others. Proof that you should not look in America for what you have on the banks of the Meuse!

In a completely different register, on August 4, drummer Antoine Pierre will play his creation “VAAGUE” surrounded by his drums and cymbals, but also by samples and electronic effects. An exciting concert as much visually as by the sounds and grooves created by the drummer-creator of universes.

We no longer need to introduce Aka Moon, this trio that has been touring the world for decades with already more than twenty productions to its credit. We saw them at the cultural center of Huy in extended formation for a breathtaking concert inspired by Beethoven’s “Opus 111”, here they are in the original formula with all the surprises that this implies, a concert not to be missed: it will be August 5 at the end of the festival.

In addition to these headliners, there are a few musical appetizers not to be missed: on August 3, DJ Henri Dossogne will sample his best LPs; on August 4, “IOTA” will mix jazz and pop influences in a colorful repertoire. New also for this edition, the organization of a fair for vinyl records on August 5th.

Free evening at the Cortina. At the Couvent: 12 € the evening of 3, 15 € the evening of 4 and 18 € the evening of 5.
